As a fan of the Super Mario franchise, I’ve always had a soft spot for Luigi. Mario’s taller, often overlooked brother. To pay homage to this beloved character, I embarked on an exciting journey to bring him into the real world with the help of my 3D printer. The process was both a creative challenge and a nostalgic journey, as I worked to capture the essence of Luigi’s personality in physical form.
My journey began with the selection of a meticulously detailed Luigi model, capturing his unique features-his lanky frame, trademark mustache, and signature green hat. To ensure the integrity of the model, I used my BambuLab AMS to print the eye as a single piece but in multiple colors, avoiding the fragility of small parts.
Once the print was complete, I carefully removed Luigi from the print bed. The post-processing stage involved gluing all parts together and required a significant amount of patience and dedication, especially when dealing with the heavy arms that needed a lot of tape and support to stay on.
3D printing Luigi was more than just a project; it was a celebration of the joy and creativity that gaming, and this beloved character, has brought into my life. Now, Luigi stands proudly alongside my other 3D-printed figures, a reminder of the fun and inspiration that gaming can provide.
