Venusaur is a Grass/Poison-type Pokémon and the final evolution of Bulbasaur, the starter Pokémon from the Kanto region. Known as the Seed Pokémon, Venusaur is characterized by the large flower on its back, which blooms as it evolves. It is a formidable, bulky Pokémon with powerful moves like Solar Beam and Sleep Powder. Venusaur is part of the iconic trio alongside Charizard and Blastoise, representing the final evolutionary stage of the original starter Pokémon in the Pokémon Red and Blue games.
After printing and building Blastoise, I wanted to do the next starter Pokemon. I decided on Venusaur because of its bright colors. After searching for a long time, I found a model for sale with 3D printing in mind. Compared to other models, the flower on Venusaur’s back was divided into parts, allowing easy printing. But the body was still one piece, and I had to use Blender to split it into two segments to reduce support and print time. I couldn’t cut some parts off, so I did my first sizeable multicolor print using the Bambu Lab AMS. I did like the result, but it was a massive waste of material and time because each filament change takes more than 60 seconds. After waiting days to finish printing the body, assembling took only a few minutes due to the low number of parts.
The Venusaur model is not as tall as the Blastoise one but is longer and wider. Therefore, they both fit together nicely and make up for a great pair. But one starter Pokemon is still missing.
